Releasing their debut in May 2013, The Implants have pulled off an impossible task. While still remaining active members in their original bands (Strung Out, Pulley, Ten Foot Pole, The Tank) they managed to explore the roots of melodic and hardcore punk rock and bring fans a dose of what punk was like in the mid-90's. Don't let that fool you though, From Chaos To Order definitely holds it's own in today's scene as well. Formed by five friends with similar tastes in music, Ken Conte, Rob Ramos, Jim Blowers, Chris Del Rio, and Chris Dalley find a balance with fast songs, catchy riffs, and sing along choruses that leave you wondering why it's taken them this long to get together. Starting off strong with "Life Passes", listeners will get a good idea of what they're in for throughout the album. The fast pace continues for the next two tracks (albeit with different melodies) until "Once Was I" slows it down slightly in something akin to a Punk Rock Ballad. The band shows off it's metal chops on "Mutualism" and "Unveiling" while flirting with Pop Punk on tracks such as "Bleed Within", "Stuck Around", and "These Walls". Rounding out the album as the finale "El Ron" fades into silence, listeners will crave more of this perfect blend of melody and streetwise attitude. There is something for everyone on this album, and fans of any of the members' primary bands will certainly find it satisfying as well. Lyrically, there's nothing new here. Topics covered include being back in the good old days, chasing your dreams, and just being misunderstood. Listeners looking for deep, meaningful lyrics will have to look elsewhere, but the music is where the real gem on this album lies. From standard 3-chord songs, to crazy solos, From Chaos To Order is one of the best albums to be released in 2013, and ranks high on the list of best albums in the last 5 years.
