With their highly anticipated second album on the horizon, soon to be released through legendary punk label Household Name Records (former home of Capdown, Red Lights Flash, the King Blues, etc.), Chief are poised to take the UK punk scene by storm. Their infectious blend of melodic hardcore takes a huge step forward with this new release, further demonstrating the breadth of their musical influences with elements of Hip-Hop & Reggae, alongside the sing-along choruses and politically-charged lyrics that fans have grown so fond of. More than releasing an album, this is Chief reaffirming their position as one of the UK’s most exciting punk bands. From their earliest gigs in Liverpool’s DIY punk scene, Chief have gathered a reputation for their energetic live shows, playing blisteringly fast melodic hardcore with clinical execution. Their reputation has continued to build momentum, having now played over 400 shows across the UK and Europe, and touring with such accomplished acts as Strike Anywhere, The Bouncing Souls, Propaghandi, Strung Out, Set Your Goals, and many more. The band was also invited to play a live session for BBC Radio 1 with Mike Davies, playing songs from their critically acclaimed first album, Provocation of the Nation (2007). Alongside their passion for punk music, Chief use their songs to actively address the social issues that they care about, using their live shows as a platform to raise social awareness. Their new album, titled Apply Within, sees Chief raise the bar as some of punk’s most vocal political antagonists, denouncing the privatisation of the National Health Service (Bevan Sent), police brutality (Exposures), and the spread of fascism (This Island) with characteristic insight, and positivity for the prospects of change.
