Bio:
Fifty Nutz started jamming in September of 1996. By April 1997, the band had already released a 9-song demo which were all composed and arranged by the then four piece outfit. College radios started playing songs from the demo right away while the band was starting to make some noise on the Montreal underground scene. Since then, the band has appeared in well over 150 shows while taking part in some major events like the Vans Warped Tour 2000 and the Relevenement 2001 in Quebec City, a one-day festival headlined by Guttermouth.
Fifty Nutz also broke the ice on television performing one song on the “Change d’air” program telecasted on Radio-Canada on January 29th 1999. Fifty Nutz’s songs can also be found on many compilations including the MusiquePlus’ “1-2-3 Punk comp” volume 1 and 2 which features many great bands such as Millencolin, Gob, Good Riddance and No Use For a Name.
The band’s first full length album entitled « Good isn’t good enough » was released in November of 1999. Since the first run of the LP was back ordered, a new reprint with a bonus track is now available across Quebec through Ozone distribution. Just like the demo, the “Good isn’t good enough” was self-produced with some help from Studio Nicko (Subb).
Throughout the last year, Fifty Nutz has had the opportunity to share the stage with a number of famed bands through Greenland productions. Among the most notable shows, let’s mention Subb, Gob, Big Wig and Pennywise. The band also has a great promotion tool with its video for the song “Milk” which was added in “Action” (3 times a week for 5 weeks) rotation on the MusiquePlus play list. The video increased the band’s credibility while helping them gain even more fans.
These days, the now five piece Nutz are writing new songs in their own emo-pop-punk style while adding new sounds to the mix. Their new album entitled "The Last Word", which was released on May 23rd 2002 on the Union Label Group, has already sold very well. With an ever growing fan base, many major projects on the horizon, the most important being a video for the song "Great expectations" and a cross-Canada tour this summer, Fifty Nutz will soon be one of the marquee bands on the Canadian punk-rock scene.
The band is unactive now I hope some day they will be in action again.
